Black copper marans are friendly, hardy, dual purpose birds. They are average layers of medium to dark brown eggs. Pullets that hatch should lay eggs ranging between 5 and 8 on the Marans scale. We are actively selecting for darkening egg color in our stock.
Please note that Marans egg color do fade throughout the laying season. If you recieve eggs from us that are lighter than you expected, please know that is not an indication of what the chicks that hatch will lay. It just may mean our birds are low on toner and in need of a molt. We do not keep any birds that lay less than a 5 in our breeding program. Our birds are certainly not perfect, but we are very focused on our breeding goals.
